  • This webinar will discuss the difference between what services the hospital must cover for patients without reimbursement and when the hospital has a right to request reimbursement from the patient. Discussion will include the legal differences between implementing a safe discharge plan for patients designated as inpatient vs. outpatient. Case managers will learn what notices can be provided to patients and families to protect the hospital from ultimate lack of payment for services rendered and strategies for how to escalate these cases for additional help.

IN-PERSON COURSES

  • This course covers all the essentials for working successfully in frontline case management. Topics include the history of case management, regulatory requirements, and how to be proactive in a CM role through progression of care and resource management.  

    • Duration: 1 day

    • Additional Topics: acute care case management (including the continuation of care to the outpatient setting to improve patient care and outcomes), identifying appropriate patients for CM services, providing a comprehensive assessment, and how to put together a holistic transitional care plan and incorporating new SDoH requirements.

  • This is a comprehensive foundational presentation into the origins and functions of clinical documentation integrity taught by Dr. Erica Remer, national recognized in the field of CDI. The course will dive into best practice for composing queries, physician engagement, innovative CDI activities, and how to appropriately utilize your physician advisor. The goal of the course is to think differently about the daily practice of how to do CDIS work and think of how to generate meaningful content and engage physicians to motivate a change in behavior. The lesson will be a blend of lecture and case scenarios with group discussion to be interactive with examples on documentation improvements opportunities. The course content is modeled after best practices, from Dr. Remer’s CDI and Documentation Modules.
